Zia Aerial Performing Arts — Studio Policies

1. Registration & Payment

Full payment is required before attending any classes, memberships, punch cards, or private lessons. All sales are final. ZAPA does not issue refunds.

2. Attendance & Punctuality

Arrive 5-10 minutes early. Arriving more than 15 minutes late will result in observation only, for the safety of all. Students must attend the class level assigned by instructors.

3. Class Structure & Progression

Session classes run in 8-week blocks. Instructors track student progress and advise on advancement. Repeating a level is common and expected. Classes evolve each session to provide new challenges.

4. Class Cancellations & Make-Ups

If ZAPA cancels a class for any reason, a make-up will be scheduled. If a student misses class for personal reasons, one make-up class at their skill level will be offered at the end of the session.

5. Safety & Conduct

Follow all safety guidelines and instructor directions.

  • Disclose any injuries, pregnancies, or mental health conditions before class.

  • No peer teaching or unsupervised equipment use.

  • No plopping, jumping, sliding, or reckless dismounts from apparatuses.

  • Open Studio requires the use of mats at all times.

6. Hygiene & Dress Code

Come to class clean, in fresh clothing. Strong odors stay in the fabrics and make for an unpleasant sharing experience.

  • Wear snug-fitting, zipper-free attire that covers the legs, midriff, and underarms.

  • Remove all jewelry.

  • Hair must be tied back.

  • Bare feet or non-slip socks only.

  • In cold months, bring layers without zippers.

7. Filming & Social Media

Filming is permitted with instructor approval. Consent is required from anyone appearing in your content before posting. Please tag @zia.aerial.performing.arts if you share on social media.

8. Observation & Etiquette

Parents and guests may observe from the designated viewing area.

  • No side-coaching or distractions from the sidelines.

  • Maintain a quiet, respectful presence.

9. Studio Environment

Our studio is located in a former cotton gin and is a raw warehouse space.

  • Indoor temperatures mirror outdoor weather—bring cold water in summer and layers in winter.

  • We use heating and cooling units to help regulate comfort.

  • In extreme conditions, classes may be canceled with make-ups scheduled.

10. Equipment & Rigging

Use only studio-provided equipment during classes.
If you'd like to use a personal specialty apparatus during Open Studio:

  • You must sign an additional waiver.

  • Equipment must be inspected and approved by ZAPA staff.

  • Students are never allowed to rig equipment by themselves.

11. Respect & Inclusion

ZAPA is a safe haven—welcoming, encouraging, and community-oriented.

  • Bullying or disrespect of any kind is grounds for termination.

  • Please honor our level system and teaching structure.

  • Concerns may be brought to staff respectfully and directly.

12. Age Requirements

  • Open Studio, Aerial Strength, and the Workout Center are 18+ only.

  • Youth classes are ages 8-13.  Adult classes are 13+

  • Students age 13 may enroll in either youth or adult classes at the parents' discretion.

13. Private Lessons

Privates are available by request. Students may choose their instructor and apparatus. Once availability is confirmed, the lesson will be added to the studio calendar. Prepayment is required.

14. Workout Center

Access is limited to ages 18 and up. Please respect this boundary for everyone's safety.

15. Health & Wellness

Stay home if you're feeling unwell. Help us keep the studio a healthy environment for all.
